The trial was stalled due to the absence of the defendant in court who was said to have contracted the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) on December 03, 2021. The prosecuting counsel applied to the Court that the documents, which the defence counsel claimed were the results of the COVID tests, be filed in the Court and served on the prosecution, which was granted by the court. The prosecuting counsel also told the court that prosecution will subsequently apply under Section 235 (4) of the Lagos State Administration of Criminal Justice (Amendment) Law 2021 for the defendant to be tried in absentia if he still fails to appear in Court.
